  • I’m Ordering the Tea Next Time

    I’m still here.

Still shivering here under this electric blanket,
    believing spring really will come.

Or at the very least, the unleashing of hell.

I’m cold, and welcome anything resonating some sensation of heat.

We had a showing on the ranch last Friday.

The potential buyer said he needed more land.

But, if you already knew you needed more than 42 acres, why bother looking?

I remember having that same issue in NY while we were trying to sell our 1830′s brick Victorian.  Oh 5000 sq ft is just too big for our family.  We wouldn’t know what to do with all this space.  Used to drive me nuts.

I just wish the family that really wants the ranch could buy it, but they have yet to sell their own place.  This property makes her swoon.  She cried when we sold it the first time.  And then contacted us when she saw it was back on the market. Yes, that’s who should live here. Someone whose soul can hear this land, give it what it needs, and receive what it offers.  If money should fall down from the heavens, or a winning lottery ticket, we would totally give this place to her.  I like giving better than selling.

Meteorology Man has been applying for jobs in Arizona.  He’s had a good run at working from home, but his company is looking a bit weak in the knees with all the government budget issues.  Hopefully Tucson, considering that is where this glorious place sits.  Well, it’s near there anyway.  Out in the middle of nowhere, a little town with open range for the cattle.  The roads are literally one lane, with pull-offs every now and then.  But, we rarely ran across anyone else on the road.  It really does feel like you are in an episode of High Chaparral, with the trails and natural desert landscape.

To get to the actual town, you have to travel about five miles of these glorious cattle paths.  No sarcasm.  This totally makes me happy.  The town is along the highway and consists of a gas station convenience store, a thrift shop and this place.

The taco shop.  We checked it out while we were there.  They make the flour tortillas fresh to order.  Glorious, I tell you.  The girl at the counter let my Hunky sample the Hibiscus tea.  He ordered a large, drank it all and then we hit the road to Phoenix.  He later discovered, Hibiscus tea can cause some people to do squirrelly things and you really shouldn’t drive while drinking it for the first time.  oops.  Thankfully, he was fine.  He’s a tall glass of water. Takes more than a little flower water to make him squirrelly.

Me, on the other hand, can get squirrelly standing downwind from an open bottle of Nyquil.

Speaking of squirrelly (in a good squirrelly kind of way), you have to check out this video my daughter and son-in-law created.  I find it brilliant.
    But, you be the judge.

  • I wish you luck in selling your place. I have never had the Hibiscus tea before.

  • It always seemed easier to buy real estate than to sell it.

  • I love hibiscus tea, and the little towns around Tucson- like Vail, Tubac and Oracle.

  • I’ve never tried Hibiscus tea.  I don’t think I will now; I’m easily squirreled.  I guess I’ll stick to my orange pekoe.

I hope that woman sells her house soon.  It sounds like she was meant for your ranch.  I’m not sure how much good my prayers or good vibes will do, but I’ll try anyway.

  • I’ve had that hibiscus drink, jamaica, pronounced “hamaica”, since I was a kid. Never drank it hot, just iced cold. Never had any strange effects, weird.

  • That is a really cute place, even if I don’t think I could stand to live with so much desert on the outside and so little green!

The cacti are cute. If you buy that place will you name at least one cactus “Senor Saguaro” for me? It’s from one of my favorite books, “Stargirl” – there was a cactus in there named Senor Saguaro and it was the cutest thing ever. I decided if I ever moved to the desert and had a pet cactus I would name it that too.
I hate money. So much heartache. I hope that family that adores the ranch will be able to sell their place in time to buy yours. I know what it’s like to miss out on something you felt like you were meant to have – I still think about a perfect little house I made an offer on (and was rejected) before I bought this one every now and then. I have come to love this house too.. but you know how it is.
That taco joint looks familiar. But I am probably just remember the zillion little places like that in the little towns just off the highway from when we roadtripped through AZ. That was the trip where I got sicker than I’d ever been in my life, and it’s still the sickest I’ve ever been, and that was the start of all my health issues. I came home a broken person. I have a grudge against AZ. lol

  • patience grasshopper….in due time it will work out, I’ll play the lottery in your honor tonight  the kids video was indeed brilliant!

  • Good luck with selling your property. Sorry that your husband has to look for a position elsewhere. I thought you had already sold and were moving away. I must have missed something big.

I watched that video. Your son in law has a big mouth to keep six or seven lollipops in it at one time!

  • I wish for a miracle and the lady who loves your place gets to buy it. That would be wonderful.

I’m afraid of being squirrely so I’ll avoid the hibiscus tea. :D

  • @angys_coco - Thank you!  And if you ever try the Hibiscus tea, let me know if you get squirrelly.

@rnjennison - Seems so for us.  We always have these one of kind properties to boot.

@RighteousBruin - Hey Gary, ever been to the taco shop in Marana?  You will have to check it next time you are passing through.

@chronic_masticator - I feel that way, too. I want her to have it so badly.  Patience, I need patience.

@ccrider17 - You must be one of the un-squirrelly ones.  Me on the other hand, will probably see green chihuahuas in pink tu-tus.

@BohemianLotus - YES, I will name a cactus Senor Saguaro for you!  I will even make him a sign to wear. Did he wear a sombrero in the story?

@mlbncsga - hahaha, yes, thank you!  You always are making me laugh.  Or making me cry.  Good cries.

@ZSA_MD - I’ve been here on xanga so little, so let me update you. We sold WHR and moved out to the hotel until the property we were buying closed.  But, the folks that were buying WHR lost their financing and wanted to start completely over, meaning six more weeks in the hotel and for the dogs in the kennel.  And we still would not be assured their financing would be approved.  So, we moved back into WHR.  This is a good thing this all fell through, because we really need to move to the desert for my health. I no longer am able to retain my own body heat and need a warmer climate.  We used to live in Tucson and both love it there. We always knew we would move back to the desert one day, it just ended up being sooner than we thought.  So, now WHR is back on the market.  Thank you, Zakiah for your continued support.

And I have no idea how Joe got that many lollipops into his mouth!

  • @aSeriesofFortunateEvents - I’ve seen your family, you have enough natural squirrelly going on.

  • @WildWomanOfTheWest - Oh, I’ve seen those chihuahuas and tutus. It wasn’t jamaica, but rather the juice f the cactus, otherwise known as tequila. Good luck with your ranch sale.

  • what a beautiful place!  I’ve wanted to live back in Az ever since I lived there in the 90s while in the Army.

    that’s a really neat video. : )

  • I just read about the hibiscus tea.  That’s relly quite a scary thiught to have drunk it without being given any precaution… rather irresponsible of the server I say.  Now I’m going to check out your daughter’s video.

  • Tamy, I thought that the ranch was already sold . I see it is not..
I missed certainly some posts before .
Anyway , I wish to you both good luck. I believe you need that.
    Love

    Michel

  • I’ll come back by for a look at the video.  Thinking happy thoughts for you

  • @WildWomanOfTheWest -  AWESOME. HAha no sombrero, but the poor dude had lost his “pants” (the bottom half of his skin had slid down showing his inner stalks). I still think you should put a sombrero on Senor Saguaro anyway, it’d be cute!

  • yummy taco shack I can handle that

  • @WildWomanOfTheWest - Thank you Tamy, like always, all things happen for a reason… and by the Will of God. I wish you great success in finding the best place for you both. Love and good wishes.

  • we are cold here in northcentral texas, too.

  • I hope all the house stuff and job stuff and stuff stuff all find a way to fit together…

  • I loved the video! The new place is awesome. I’m not so sure I could handle all the quiet.  I know I could get used to it though if I had too. At least you’ve lived there before and liked it so it won’t be hard to adjust. I just keep thinking about….snakes…scorpions…and God only knows what else roams the desert? LOL If it will help your health, that is a wonderful thing. I know the ultimate goal here is getting you all warm and cozy and back to yourself.  I’ll surely be praying for the family that wants WHR.  It needs to be in the hands of people that love it as much as you and MM.

  • I hope all works out well for you and Mm and you end up in a little piece of Heaven in the form of a ranch.     The taco shop sounds wonderful and I love the video made by your daughter and son in law.  Very cool stuff.

Hugs and loves your way WW.  I know your name is Tamy but you will always be WW to me and TD

  • Well, I’ve gotten lost in the planning here.  I’ve been missing a while.  I thought it was sold and you were moving already.  I guess I  need to play catch up to see what’s been happening…..  Best of luck to you with what comes along!!!

I checked out the video.  CUTE!!

  • sorry the ranch hasn’t sold, hope it will fall inot place soon.  Great video!

  • @plantinthewindow - When you come out for a visit (you better!) you can show us around Bisbee.

@ccrider17 -  Yes, I eventually discovered wild and Jose Cuervo don’t mix. And I am not giving up the wild.  Thank you for the well wishes!

@JstNotherDay - I’m thinking the server didn’t know.  Maybe, it’s a toned down version they serve in restaurants?

@fauquet - @GrannyHappyNanny - I am re-posting my reply to Zakiah for you.I’ve been here on xanga so little, so let me
update you. We sold WHR and moved out to the hotel until the property we

    @KarensPotpourri2 -  Thank you!

@SisterMae - It was glorious!  The beans were so good.

@ZSA_MD - Thank you for your kindness, Zakiah.

@Texasjillcarmel - Spring is having a hard time getting started this year, huh?  Looks like we might go straight into summer temps!

    @murisopsis - Thank you, that’s a lot of stuff!

@Iloveaholiday - I love quiet.  After nine kids, CRAVE quiet!   We have snakes and scorpions here in Oklahoma, so nothing new.  We get them in the house, and I still walk barefooted to the bathroom in the dark.

@Grannys_Place - I love it when you call me WW.

  • @MOM2_4 - It will, when it’s time. I so believe that.  In the mean time, I dream of non-hypothermia days.

  • They call hibiscus “Jamaica” in Spanish. It tastes great no matter what you call it. Never knew it had hallucinogenic qualities, though.

Does Arizona have enough weather to warrant meteorologists? I loved the feel of northern Arizona and the high altitude and the trees. Also the stretches of Rt. 66.

  • The first thing I thought…..it has a THRIFT shop??!!!    SCORE one for Wild Woman!!  Tacos AND a thrift shop…you must be in dog heaven!  (I was going to say HOG heaven, but since you are a dog gal…well, it seemed to fit.   )

  • Scorpions and snakes, and going barefoot?… You are a brave wild woman.

  • Praying that their house sells and they’re able to buy it from you guys! Also praying you are able to get warm! I hate being cold. Can I ask why you’re not able to retain body heat? That sounds so miserable!

Arizona is definitely warm. Hope MM finds a good job there. We’re having a lot of trouble with hubby’s job as a self-employed contractor. This financial climate is not conducive to anything remotely adventurous right now. Praying that changes soon!

  • i’ve had hibiscus tea several times.  never had any side effects from drinking it.

  • I used to love red hibiscus tea by Celestial Seasonings in my younger days.

I think it’s annoying when people go to open houses knowing the place is NOT on their criteria list.  When we were house hunting we had a list printed out of houses in our price range, and the HAVE to have features we wanted so we didn’t wasted anybody’s time.

  • I wish you best of luck in selling your place (sad, but necessary), and you can move on to the next chapter in your life (happy!)! You are in my thoughts and prayers!
    YAY for Mexican food!
    HUGS!!!

    Rootbeer makes me squirrelly!

  • @Roadkill_Spatula - He will be leaning on his management skills and training.  Not too many openings for meteorologists in Arizona.

@go_granny_go - I love me a good thrift/junk shop!  But, we are having to downsize into 1000 sq ft and are still getting rid of stuff!  I will only be able to window shop.

@JstNotherDay -  Well, only scorpions in the house, never had a snake inside.  I pray the whole way to the bathroom!

@SealedbyGrace - The immune system attacks my temperature regulator. It was 76 degrees in the house this morning, and I was shivering.  I need 80s to feel comfortable.  Thank you for praying!

@rudyhou - I guess, it just depends on a person’s system.  And the strength of the tea!

@martna1 - We are the same way when looking.  If we already know it doesn’t have our needs/wants, we don’t bother folks with a showing.  We had another showing on our ranch yesterday.  We always leave with the indoor dogs during the showings, so we don’t get to meet the potential buyers.  But, this time they came back when they saw we had pulled into the driveway, and asked us questions.  I LOVE meeting the buyers and getting to know them.  Makes transitions much friendlier.

@adamswomanback - Thank you, you beautiful soul!  And if root beer makes you squirrelly, then you are my type of peoples.

  • @WildWomanOfTheWest – Ugh! Praying for a miracle! God is certainly able! Love you, Tamy!

  • @SealedbyGrace - Thank you, Marie!    We know all the doors will open wide when it is time!
