Back To The Beginning
Sitting here watching the snow fall outside the hotel window. The Cracker Barrel sign lighting the way for I40 travelers. And tempting Wild Women to venture out for an order of biscuits and gravy and a bit of bacon. I’m shivering while sitting in a warm comfy room, not likely I will play Yukon Cornelius today. The biscuits will have to wait.
The movers we hired were an outstanding crew. It’s rare to see folks happy doing such back-breaking work for others. Each one of the crew members made a point to introduce themselves to us, made eye contact, smile and were not afraid to ask questions. Ask questions about our family. ha! They were a little taken back that we had nine children. Taken back in a good way. They made my last day at the ranch a pleasurable one.
We were going to hire a cleaning service to clean the house for the next owners, assuming I would not have the energy. Instead, I decided to hire my daughter, but that would have been a lot of travel miles between her house and the ranch. So, with all the snow coming in today and my healthy energy levels, we went ahead and cleaned it up ourselves after the movers left.
Yosemite Sami had left a few surprises under my bed. So, that was nice.
Despite the surprises, we were in the hotel room and eating a burrito by 6pm. Full of beans and relief to have it all behind us, we just kicked back the rest of the evening.
This morning, Meteorology Man is downstairs working in the lobby, while I watch American Restoration on the History channel.
I might venture down and do a load of laundry later.
Seriously, what do folks do who don’t have nine neurotic canine to chase around the house?
What’s your plan today? As we let go of watering Hole Ranch, I thought we might take a look back and watch the video Macy created when the dream came to pass.

Pity that I could not watch the video – it is blocked from this part of the world.
Sounds like your life is in anyway a lot of things to do next.
But at the same time one can hear a sound of relief in your voice at the same time.
U take care!
Stay warm! ( you were shivering there)
Stay fit! Stay healthy!
Most of all – stay happy as well!
~Sherry~
I’m glad the moving process is going well so far. Enjoy your hotel stay, and I love American Restoration. I’ll have to watch your video a little later.
It’s so good to hear you have energy again! But seriously, Cracker Barrel’s hash brown casserole is bomb. So perfect crunchy/cheesy. Enjoy the relaxation!
Wow — those shots are powerful — a super video! And now on to the next place of abundance ~ ~ ~ does your new home have a name yet?
So happy it went smoothly! Hope the rest of the transition is as well
There is a quote by Dr Seuss that goes something like “don’t be sad that it’s over, be glad that it happened” May you feel that way about leaving your ranch…… Can’t wait to see what lays ahead for you ~ it’s gonna be grand!
My plan for today….trying to keep my very large fluffy critter away from the guys repairing the drywall!
You’ve had quite a journey the last three years. I hope this next step is equally enjoyable and brings unexpected new blessings. Someday I look forward to visiting you with Alicia and my kids.
Today I have started my new medicine that will keep me calm through all my tests and surgery lol I know why Zombies are calm slow and don’t care what they eat… other than that I will just piddle around the house maybe read alittle
I can’t imagine how quiet it must be for you at the hotel. I hope you are able to R E L A X a bit. Sounds like you’re having a nice time so far. We are slowly working on the few orders that have trickled in since Valentine’s. Happy the rush is over with. It’s all rainy/snowy/dreary outside and my little zoo animals are all napping the day away while I clean today. Playing melancholy music and reviving my soul a little bit. We’ll come visit you sometime if you want! We can double date for dinner sometime in the next couple weeks.
I LOVE YOU!!
Just trying to get my rear into gear-so far-no luck
Great video of a tragic time! You have definitely shown strength despite the difficulties and an amazing sense of humor! Also, it’s great to read about good, caring movers! All I’ve ever heard is that they steal some of the stuff they’re supposed to move! Have fun being next door to Cracker Barrel! Maybe you can go over and sit in a rocker on their porch!
Oh, yes. Today’s plans…It began with a workout. Then lunch. Then encouraging a sad friend. Then going out back and snapping pictures. Then getting my camera gear ready for a shoot this afternoon…like really soon. Then it’ll be an evening of photo editing and fixing dindin and crashing. Maybe playing the Wii with hubby. Life is nice. I do feel blessed.
I LOVE Cracker Barrel. I would send the hubby over for some take out.
‘Given your healthy energy levels you went ahead and cleaned’… and probably the reason you are having the shivers now… Did you overdo yourself? Typical Momma. I wouldn’t have wanted my daughter to get on snowy, possibly icy roads either.
What do you do now that you don’t have 9 canine to chase after… You talk to us.
and go a bit stir crazy I’ll wager. Alot quieter than your last stay at the hotel isn’t it? I think you are like me… you prefer busy. Am I right?
(((hugs)))
Lynn
Glad you got everything done with no major snags. We have occasional snow flurries here now but down to 22 and wind chill even lower. Have to leave for Jorge’s Zumba class in an hour from now.
Enjoy your hotel time!
I guess God did have a plan! Glad the new journey has begun.
@rainydaystay - You changed your name…
Fantastic job on the video.
I hope you enjoy your hotel stay, for what it’s worth. I hate staying in them.
Hope you get to enjoy the peace and quiet for a time.
Cracker Barrel is the place I go when my heart needs feeding alongside my stomach. Nearly everything there tastes a lot like the type of food my beloved grandmother cooked for me, plus southern food is just comforting on it’s own.
I am glad that the move out went well! My dogs typically can’t leave surprises for me because I have an extremely sensitive nose. It’s when they get sneaky that gets me. I smell it but can’t find it for the life of me and look like a crazy woman crawling on my hands and knees huffing the floor.
Xanga’s front page censored the word “cracker.” I laughed more than I probably should’ve.
This cold weather can go back to wherever it came from. It’s overstayed its welcome. Bring on the budding trees and chirping birds, I miss them.
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((ww))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Sweet lady you totally rock and am sending prayers, good vibes, loves and hugs your way.
I have been away for so long and did not realize you are moving. Just watched the video, read through some of your past posts and of course, I am in tears. You are truly a beautiful, remarkable woman Tami. I am in awe of you and Meterology Man. Your new life will truly be blessed.
that is so sad I couldn’t watch the whole thing
Praying you for you guys! Sad to leave behind but knowing great things are ahead for you two. When will you get into your new home?
When illness required me quitting my nursing job, I became hooked on what was then known as “Court T.V.” Now it’s called “In Session.” All the juicy trials around the country on t.v. I walked when I could, and read like crazy. Started singing in the church choir. Now that my husband is retired, he’s around, and that’s been a huge adjustment, let me tell you. And part of the week I have a 16 almost 17 month old grandson here, tearing around like the Road Runner. Remember the cartoon? The American Academy of Pediatrics has declared it too violent for young children. PHWAT??? You gotta be kiddin me! That was our favorite, and we laughed like crazy. Anyway, the baby is wired to the hilt, how soon one forgets that her own son was like this, hence, extreme sports all his life. And after I’ve done everything as well as I know how, we frequently find ourselves, baby and me, sitting late in the afternoon, watching Dr. Phil. Real good, I know, I know.
Hope your moving process ends soon.
Dang….
I’m at work today, when I get home I have to clean house cause were having company tomorrow, I only have 7 poopers to contend with but I’m pretty sure a few of them have left presents under the bed too
@rainydaystay - thanks for the video Macy!
wow – it’s amazing how quickly things happened, and how much has happened over the past few years.
thinking of you all as the moving process continues. (hugs)
I, too, feel lost without my dogs along. Besides, who else is going to eat the food that the babies throw on the floor? That’s not MY job!
I am glad you have moved out without a hitch. Pray that all things at the new place will be just as wonderful for you as they were in the last place.
Me, I am sitting here watching the white out that we have been having since this morning.
Another moving post from you… thanks for sharing… will be watching for the next “chapter” in you life… ^..^
Loved the video. I imagine Watering Hole Ranch was one great place to grow up. That last shot with the sunset- absolutely gorgeous.
So glad to hear you’re feeling better! I’m sure the Cracker Barrel sign would be too much of a temptation for me right now! I would *have* to brave the weather for a taste of their wonderful crispy coated okra! I love that stuff!
Hope you’re able to rest some so you can get back to wrangling those wild nine doggies! Blessings to you, dear friend! Love you!
Like Julius Cesar you crossed the Rubicon for a new adventure but it is hard to do .. I cannot wait to see your new installation and to know more about the animals that you can keep with you .
Nine children : generosity joy and… sorrow sometimes . We know with only six of them.
Love
Michel
