Putting little elves throughout the house to watch over your children during the holiday season was after my maternal time, I guess. Personally, I prefer a Doberman. I had never even heard of it until OBL (
@ordinarybutloud) mentioned it in one of her posts. This woman cracks me up. If you do not read her, you are missing out. She is one witty bitty. In a good witty bitty way.
Anyway, because I am a bit more twisted than the average sugar plum fairy, I will be running a series called Elf on the Redneck Shelf through Christmas. Not really appropriate for younger children, or fragile adults, but my heathen tribe would have loved it. Considering their mother, this shouldn't surprise you.
Let's check and see if our little unsuspecting elf friend has arrived here at the ranch.
Poor thing, never knew what hit him.
And because I was able to lay on my belly in the driveway and take this shot in the warm Oklahoma sunshine, this will count as my Delightful December #2. And it made the elf laugh when my back locked up and I got stuck out there. It's all good.
Delightful December: @BohemianLotus has challenged us to find something positive from each day during the month of December in hopes of creating healthy perspectives in our lives.

Oh that picture is funny
I don't do Christmas. Can't bring myself to lie to my child whom I love dearly... Seems incredibly twisted to me...
But I sure do love that photo!
I suppose I'm twisted as well. This is awesome!
The Elf on the Shelf thing seriously creeps me out, and I have personal issues with the whole "He's gonna TELL ON YOU so you better behave because HE'S ALWAYS WATCHING YOU" thing, because it really smacks of mental/emotional manipulation and maybe even borders on abuse - but my perspective could be colored by the fact that my past was really full of abuse. Just not elf abuse. But anyway.
I know I am going to particularly love this series because a twisted version makes it a little better.
I'm SO glad you are feeling well enough to be able to have taken that pic! I know what it feels like when you find you can do something you haven't been able to do for a while. It's a very hopeful feeling and indeed, makes me happy when I experience it. YAY for you! :D
Love it!
. That poor elf
. yeah I'm not very simpathetic to him, eh. I love the twisted version, and it's less creapy, too. Weird how that works.
Have never gotten the elf on a shelf thing... BUT - I do believe I like your version better
You were supposed to be on my list of favorite Xangans, too. You definitely inspire me!
Perfect. I'd like to see what Jack and Bill do with an elf.
When I was a child, my mom would put the Elf out. I now own it and put it out beginning 2 years ago, simply to see if doing so would evoke any "fond" memories of childhood Christmases. Thankfully, nothing really bad came popping out of my memory bank. My teens think the thing is creepy. This year, I may put him on a shelf when my parents are here. Otherwise, I may do my version of Finding Elf. I'll stay off the driveway though, since you've done that and did yourself in. Oh dear. I look forward to this whole December thing, twisted and all.
Did you need help getting up? I would have.
Help! Wildwoman has fallen and the Elf wouldn't help her up!
I think I saw the same post about the elf. I thought about getting two, one with a skirt, and having a Mr/Mrs Elf thing going on. But I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Besides, my Mr/Mrs Snowman might get jealous...
I never heard of elf on a shelf either. You always tickle my funny bone, so this series should be good.
I won't let my grandson see this!!!!! lol lol lol
hahahaha....I love the elf under the truck....Great idea and great shot. Sorry about the back.
I wondered what the deal with the elves was. A friend of mine asked if I knew where she got get one to put on her shelf. I didn't know, but I put a troll on my mantel just for the heck of it. rofl
This picture gave me a well needed laugh. Thanks.
Tamy -- this is a wonderful photo -- because it is funny -- and, more importantly, because you were able to get out there and take it! I'm looking forward to more of your elves on their shelves!
i think i'm going to enjoy your version of elf on a shelf!--karen
This is epic. I love it!
I hope the back is doing better.
Love any version of mocking the Elf on the Freakin' Shelf! Hysterical!
That's fantastic - nothing like a bit of mischievous holiday spirit!
I've never heard of the Elf on the Shelf. Seem creepy to me.
I remember as a kid when my older brother put a stuffed ET on my shelf. Scared me so bad I ran crying to my parents' bed.
Like your spin on it though!
May
HAHAHAHA! You hit me square on my funny bone! hehehe!
Hahaha, poor little elfy!
